Kurie Kiyohara, soprano, is a native of Japan. She won the second prize and received a special jury award in the Young Vocalist Division of the TIAA Vocal Music Competition in 2012, held by the Tokyo International Association of Artists. The same year, she performed the role of Freia in Das Rheingold at the Tokyo International Association of Artists. She is one of the two winners of the 2020 Hunter Symphony Concerto Competition held by the Hunter college music department. Kurie performed with the Hunter Opera Theater, in association with American Opera Projects, production of Patience & Sarah in 2019, in the title role of Patience. She was selected to participate the vocal masterclasses taught by Lauren Flanigan and Thomas Hammons during her studies at Hunter College. She completed her opera singer training program at Japan Opera Foundation. Kurie holds a bachelor’s degree in music from Hunter College in New York.
